My name is Ben and I work as Occupational Therapist and Acceptance Commitment Therapist for the NHS and under my own business, Mirror Mind Therapy.

Occupational Therapy offers a holistic approach, combined with evidence-based interventions and assessments to allow individuals to engage in activities which are meaningful to them.

I specialise in Acceptance Commitment Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches which I have used in my current NHS role to enable many wonderful clients to diffuse from, and free themselves from mental and emotional barriers and start to take committed action towards being who they want to be and having a meaningful life. Throughout my career I have worked with individuals with depression, anxiety, low-self-esteem, chronic pain and PTSD.

Background

I have a background as a hypnotherapist and councillor which I practiced as part time after receiving my BSc in Psychology from Exeter university. After receiving my MSc in Occupational Therapy, I dropped hypnotherapy and focused on mindfulness, and psychotherapy-based approaches which my clients could utilise in their day to day lives. Throughout my NHS career I have studied CBT, DBT and ACT psychotherapy interventions and learnt how to integrate them into my practice as a mental health Occupational Therapist.

Qualifications

BSc Psychology (Exeter University), MSc Occupational Therapy (Oxford Brookes University), Diploma in Hypnotherapy and counselling (Chrysalis), Association for Psychological Therapies CBT Essentials, Psych-Wire Acceptance commitment Therapy for beginners and Advance Acceptance Commitment Therapy for Trauma, HCPC registered and Professional Member of RCOT.
